A Street Car Named Desire

Tennesee Williams' masterpiece is an inspired drama that ranks as one of the greatest in AmericanTheatre.  The play reveals to the very depths the character of Blanche, a faded and fragile Southern belle whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions and has lead her to reject the realities of life and which she consistently ignores.  The pressure brought to bear upon her by her sister Stella, with whom she goes to live in New Orleans, intensified by the earthy and agressive young husband Stanley, lead to a revelation of her tragic self-delusion and as jazz from the loca bars blare through the night, tensions rise to an inevitable breaking point.
